I’ll be in Louisville this week at the joint conference of JEN (Jazz Education Network) and TI:ME (Technology Institute for Music Educators). This is the first time these two organizations have partnered up and I’m pretty excited to be there enjoying both some jazz and some technology in the same venue. In particular, there will be a host of technology clinicians from all corners of the country, and I know there will not be enough time (no pun intended) to enjoy them all. Here are a couple of sessions I am presenting:

The TI:ME NC chapter will be coordinating and presenting 27 music technology sessions at the upcoming NCMEA conference, along with our board member and state technology chair, Barbara Packales. There will be a variety of topics from iPads to SmartBoards and beyond from Saturday, November 12th to Tuesday, November 15th 2011. The conference schedule is available here (pdf) (google calendar). Come and visit the Woods Charter School music technology lab for a hands-on workshop in our 12-station Mac Lab. The morning will feature our high school music technology students, demonstrating their work on GarageBand and related software. Learn about integrating a music technology course into your curriculum, and see first-hand how a composition-based class can engage a wide range of students of different ages and skill levels. This event is sponsored by the North Carolina Chapter of TI:ME (Technology Institute for Music Education) and is free of charge to all music teachers. Please RSVP to metherington@woodscharter.org

Your students hang out on Facebook all the time, so why not join them? Learn how to use social networks safely and creatively to enhance teaching and learning. Post videos; promote concerts and events; share educational websites; increase student interest in your music program. Sound good? In November, we launched the TI:ME Chapter of North Carolina at the NC Music Educators Association conference. There were many sessions offered by TI:ME NC board members. Materials are available for download on our website here.
